Digital handouts?

So my apartment has officially switched to digital television, and not a moment too soon. Thanks to the government for giving us a handout to buy a digital converter box. I can’t afford to buy books for my class this semester and may have to drop it, setting back finishing my education even further in time, but I am SO relieved that I can watch NBC’s The Office tonight without it looking like Mt. Shasta in my TV. Then I can switch to NBC’s sub-channels and watch syndicated broadcasts of winter sports set to the tune of Adult Contemporary music from the early 2000′s anytime I freakin’ want!

Seriously, though, government sponsored electronic devices to ensure that our mindless TV watching habits continue on in true patriotic form? God bless America.

And who watched the 2 hour season premiere of LOST last night, WITH the 1 hour recap? It was one of the most exciting things this week to bring change to our nation, and the episodes did not disappoint. However, they’ve really taken a turn into twisty time-traveling quantum physics… leaving my brain in Ted Kennedy mode.

RobotFires.com’s Inauguration Day.

As you can see, my blog site has been completely revamped, and nestled safely in its new home. Props to my main man, DB for setting that up for me. I’d like to think of this new and improved web space as a representative of the journey that I’m taking in my life. Now that doesn’t mean that the site will wander aimlessly through the streets of southern California or stay up until 4am watching YouTube videos of Bob Saget comedy routines til I fall asleep. It doesn’t mean that at all.

I have dreams. Dreams that could fuel your fires. I’d like to share those dreams, thoughts, ideas, and stories I have with you, Webnation. Won’t you join me on my quest to find:

  • A career in radio broadcasting
  • The most quaffable brew
  • True love
  • My place in this world

Okay, the last one I stole from the great M.W. Smith, but it still means something!  This is my chance to start fresh.  So let the great inauguration day of my blog commence!  I’ve arranged to have a parade through the streets of Washington D.C., one of the major web networking capitols in America, and they did NOT disappoint.  Although I wasn’t expecting such a huge turnout.  I didn’t advertise as much as I had planned, mostly because my PR campaign was put on hold to catch up on LOST on ABC (premiering this WEDNESDAY NIGHT), but I guess blogs advertise themselves these days.  Anyway, I’m pleased to take part in this journey, and like you, Webnation, I have no idea where it will lead.  Hold my hand (no worries, my palms don’t sweat) as we jump, NO… leap, NO… pounce on each new day.

TODAY’S QUOTE OF THE… DAY.

“…it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies. It is the kindness to take in a stranger when the levees break, the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job, which sees us through our darkest hours. It is the firefighter’s courage to storm a stairway filled with smoke, but also a parent’s willingness to nurture a child, that finally decides our fate.”   -  January 20th 2009

Like every quote of the day, if you name who said it, you will receive something very, very special.  Today’s is pretty simple.
